How Does My Vehicle's Steering System Work?

Have you ever been driving around Test Town, CA, and wondered how your steering works? Your car's power steering uses a hydraulic or electric system to amplify the small effort you put into turning your steering wheel to enough power to turn your vehicle's wheels. The steering wheel is attached to a steering shaft, which goes down toward the differential, which then attaches to the axle(s). At the other end of the steering shaft is a circular gear, which is called the “pinion.” The pinion interlocks with the rack, which is a straight gear that connects to the steering arms of your car’s wheels through tie rods. When you turn your steering wheel, the pinion rotates, which causes the rack to move either left or right, and your wheels move accordingly. We at 001 Anatoliys Test Shop know exactly how your vehicle's steering system works and can make the appropriate repairs if needed. We've been fixing cars since 2008 and serve residents of , , , , , and beyond.

What Are Tie Rod Ends?

Tie rod ends are part of your vehicle's steering system and its steering gear. They are the meeting point between the steering rack and steering knuckle; the tie rod ends transfer the force from your vehicle's steering rack to the knuckle, which is attached to the wheels. Tie rod ends also attach to your vehicle's knuckle and rack. Every time you turn the steering wheel, the tie rod ends transmit that movement into several parts of your vehicle's steering system until they push or pull the tires to make the vehicle turn.

Tie rods contain an outer tie rod end and an inner tie rod end that are connected; this serves various purposes. The outer tie rod end, which is a straight shaft with a rounded part at the end of it, has several parts inside of it. The long shaft body has a ball joint at the end of it through which steering movement is transmitted. The back of the outer tie rod end usually contains a grease fitting that allows the bearings to spin freely inside the tie rod. Tie rods are secured by locking nuts that are fastened by cotter pins and castle nuts. The inner tie rod end has a straight body that is covered by a protective rubber boot to keep dust from getting inside it.

How Do I Know If My Tie Rod Ends Need to Be Repaired or Replaced?

Although tie rod ends are designed to last for a long time, it is a good idea to get them checked when you bring your vehicle in for routine maintenance, particularly if you are driving in poor road conditions, over potholes, or if your vehicle has recently been in an accident. If bad tie rod ends are not checked out regularly and fail, you run the risk of anything from premature tire wear to losing complete control of your vehicle. We at 001 Anatoliys Test Shop in Test Town can take a look inside your vehicle and determine if we need to repair or replace a tie rod. Here are some signs to look out for that show your tie rod ends need to be repaired or replaced:

You experience uneven tire wear: If one or two of your vehicle's tires are experiencing uneven tire wear, your vehicle probably needs tie rod end repair. Your tires could be misaligned because some tires are doing more work than others or are not aimed straight due to looseness of the tie rods. To confirm if this is the issue, our Expert technicians can perform a visual inspection on your vehicle's tires.

Your steering wheel feels loose or is vibrating: A loose steering wheel means that you feel you do not have control over your vehicle when driving. There is a disconnect between your steering motions and the motions of your vehicle. If this happens, it probably means your tie rod ends are loose and most likely need to be replaced. A loose tie rod end can also cause your vehicle to vibrate, particularly when you are turning corners or driving at high speeds.

When you turn your steering wheel, your vehicle doesn't respond: In a worst-case scenario, a complete tie rod end failure will result in a complete loss of control of your vehicle. This is why it is important to bring your vehicle in for regular maintenance. To schedule your next appointment, give 001 Anatoliys Test Shop a call at 888-889-9993 .

Your vehicle has poor wheel alignment: If one or more of your vehicle's tie rod ends go bad, the tires will not perform properly, and your vehicle's tires will not maintain their symmetry. This results in poor wheel alignment, which means that some of your vehicle's tires are working harder than others. We at 001 Anatoliys Test Shop can perform front wheel alignment on your tires and determine which ones need tie rod end repair.

Our Reviews

First time at the little caesars arena and I was definitely impressed. The food was expensive but good. And parking was more than the tickets!! But it was a great experience and definitely worth the time and money. Everything was super clean and everyone was super nice as well. There’s a lot to choose from as far as food and plenty of beer everywhere. Parking had a lot of space and u don’t have to worry about anything happening to ur car while ur at the game. It was a super good night and we plan to do this again. I also wanted to add that down town Detroit looks so much better these days!! A lot of effort has been put into cleaning up down town and it’s really starting to show now.

I was a first time visitor to Detroit for the Claressa Shields fight and this was the perfect arena for the event. There were plenty of restaurants inside to grab a quick bite and drinks. It also.was pretty clean. I would return if I visited Detroit again

I usually don’t expect much from arena food, but this one actually hit. Picked up The Coop Tenders during a Detroit Pistons game at Little Caesars Arena, and it ended up being one of the better food choices inside the arena. The chicken tenders were hot, crispy, and well-seasoned, with a nice crunch on the outside and juicy meat inside—nothing dry or overcooked. The portion size was fair for arena food and filling enough to enjoy without feeling like you overpaid for what you got. What really made it stand out was the sauce. It’s a mix of BBQ and ketchup, and it surprisingly works really well—sweet, tangy, and perfect for dipping the tenders. Simple, but it complements the chicken nicely and keeps you going through the game. Service was quick and efficient, which is key during a packed Pistons game when lines can get long. Overall, for arena food standards, The Coop Tenders definitely exceeded expectations. If you’re at a Pistons game and want something reliable, hot, and satisfying, this spot is worth stopping at.

This place now holds a special place in my heart, because on July 24th 2025. I saw ghost with the fam and it changed me mentally and the experience was magical. And the arena was the best place to make that happen.

Was able to purchase tickets that included the Comerica Players Club as an add on. Obviously what I paid was steep but it was worth the money. This is one of 3 or 4 club experiences offered for Redwings games. We had seats in sections behind RW bench with access to the coolest restaurant that can be visited pre game and until beginning of 3rd period. The food was amazing and prepared, served Ala cart. All you can eat. Had salad bar, cold cut cheese bar, Cocktail bar and deserts. All in an awesome restaurant pavilion type seating right under the sections where you watch the game. Kid friendly, top notch experience. Vip restrooms. Staff was top tier and we had a great time. RW locker room is next door so you see the players walk through between periods. So cool. I believe there are less financially taxing options with the other game experience add-ons available. Worth it though even if its just one time.

This is a beautiful Arena. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Very clean. I came to see Druski Security was on it. They made sure everyone was safe and sat in the right seats. I ordered food and it was hot and fresh. The bathrooms were also clean. The workers were constantly wiping everything down. I enjoyed myself,
